What is a Vietnam Visa?
A Vietnam visa is an official document granted by Vietnamese competent authorities that allows foreign travelers to enter, stay, and exit Vietnam for a specific duration and purpose. There are several types of visas available, including Tourist E-Visas, Business Visas, and Transit Visas. Â

Types of Visa and Visa Letter
Tourist E-Visa
Tourist E-Visa is an electronic visa that allows foreign travelers to enter the country for leisure and tourism purposes. It offers a convenient and straightforward application process, often preferred by many tourists.
Validity
- - The E-Visa is typically valid for 90 days from the date of entry.
- - It allows single entry or multiple entries.
Documents Needed
- Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity.
- Recent passport-sized photograph.
- Completed visa application form.
Tourist E-Visa letter Application Process
- Obtain Approval Letter: Travelers need to have an Approval Letter on arrival which is a letter issued by Vietnam Immigration Department that allows you to enter and exit Vietnam for a given time period (15-30 days – single/multiple entry). With the approval letter and necessary documents like a passport-sized photo and flight itinerary) you can pick up your visa upon arrival at one of three international airports in Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang)
- Approve letter function: It is just a form of approval for visitors to enter the boarding gate (airport) in Vietnam. When arriving at the border gate, visitors will have to fill out an information form, pay a visa fee to the state for single entry of $25 and multiple entry of $50 to Customs and Consultation so that the officers can provide a Visa for the tourists.
- E-Visa validity: Once you have E-Visa, you will be able to stay in Vietnam according to the dates and months on traveler’s visa.
- Duration: 1 – 3 months
Business visa
Business visa is a type of visa allowing foreigners to enter Vietnam for business purposes such as signing a contract, attending a business seminar, cooperating with domestic enterprises, etc
Validity
- Typically valid from 1 month to 1 year, depending on the specific visa type and purpose.
- It applies for singe entry or multiple entries.
Documents Needed
- Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity.
- Recent passport-sized photograph.
- Completed visa application form.
- Business invitation letter (for business visas).
Business Visa letter Application Process
- Obtain an Invitation Letter: You typically need a business invitation letter from a Vietnamese company. This letter should outline the purpose of your visit.
- Approval Letter: After obtaining the invitation letter, you can apply for a visa approval letter through a Vietnamese travel agency or directly with the immigration department if you have a local sponsor.
- Submit Application: You can apply for the business visa at a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate and pay a visa fee from $25 to $50 depending on the duaration and times of entry.
- Duration: 3 months
Worker E-visa
Worker E-visa is a type of visa that allows foreign nationals to work legally in the country. The worker E-Visa is intended for individuals who have secured job offer from a Vietnamese employer and plan to engage in employment activities.
Validity
- Temporary Worker Visa : for short-term employment ( usually up to 3 months )
- Long-term Worker Visa: for employment contracts longer than 1 year.
- It applies for single entry or multiple entries.
Documents Needed
- Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity.
- Recent passport-sized photograph.
- Completed visa application form.
- Business invitation letter (for business visas).
- A work permit or work permit exemption certificate in Vietnam.
Worker Visa letter Application process
- Obtain a work permit: Get a work permit or be in the process of getting a work permit.
- Submit application: An employee can apply for a work visa at the Embassy or Consulate or upon arrival in Vietnam.
- Temporary Residence Card: If the employee plans to remain in Vietnam longer-term, they must apply for a temporary residence card once they have their work permit. The Immigration Services of Vietnam issues these cards, which are valid for 2 years, and allow employees to enter and exit Vietnam without a visa during that time.
